Between Want and Need

I have a cleansing moment of clarity...and then lose it, as I continue to figure out how a person actually ''grows up''. Also: Drive-in Movie project update Mike Daisey and ''This American Life'' Popcorn Noir Sci-fi Channel in the mid-90s.

  1. Thanks for mentioning that Popcorn Noir place. I went to their website and contacted them. FYI, you were a bit off in your characterization. They show like 15 different movies a week, some of them as recent as last year, though certainly older stuff too. They make their money mostly from beer and wine and actual food, not just candy and popcorn. In fact the owner says they barely sell any candy as there is an ice cream shop next door and people are welcome to bring in that ice cream. They are a "for-profit restaurant," he said. The movie licensing is based on their being a membership club. Do a little research next time, eh? It's all on the website. Took my five minutes to learn all this.

  2. Thanks for your comment -- sorry I was off in the info. I didn't really do any research; I was just making a quick review based on what I heard in the NPR story. I was kind of going in and out of listening to it because I was working at my job at the time.
